Note this upcoming deadline for the EPA Climate Ready Estuaries Program:
The Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Program has been awarded funds from EPA’s Climate Ready Estuaries Program, with support from EPA’s Climate Ready Water Utilities Initiative, to provide technical and scientific assistance to two pilot utilities, municipalities, or counties in the APNEP region. APNEP and EPA will provide support for the utilities as they assess climate-change related risks to their drinking water and/or wastewater infrastructure and the environment. Risks including coastal storm hazards, flooding, inundation, and sea level rise will be addressed in this project. Utilities, APNEP and EPA will use the newly developed Climate Resilience Awareness and Assessment Tool (CREAT) to assess climate risks and consider potential short, medium, and long term infrastructure investment options to reduce these risks. The selected utilities will be awarded $6,000 to support their participation in this pilot testing effort.
The current timeline for the project after the award is approximately twelve months. For project details, please reference the full request for proposals, which can be found at http://portal.ncdenr.org/web/apnep/grants. Further inquiries may be directed to Jim Hawhee at (919) 733-0121 or email@example.com. Proposals are due at 5 p.m. September 30, 2011.
