The Green Growth Toolbox was developed by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission and is a non-regulatory tool that communicates science-based recommendations and case studies about conserving priority wildlife habitats that are declining, through land use planning methods. The toolbox consists of a website, a handbook, GIS data and follow-up technical assistance. The goal of the Green Growth Toolbox is to ‘keep common species common’. This type of proactive planning secures benefits for our communities, the future of our wildlife, helps to protect working farms and forests, and can help to ensure an easier permitting process.
In the coming months, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will be providing free Green Growth Toolbox Workshops hosted by several communities across the state. Workshops are eligible for at least 5.5 American Planning Association Continuing Education credits.
These workshops are tailored to land use planners and planning-related local government departments including GIS, Public Utilities and Environmental Health, community leaders, regional councils of government, MPOs and RPOs. Communities that have taken the workshop are eligible for free technical assistance for land use planning projects that can improve conservation of declining wildlife habitat.
**Be sure to invite Planning Board and Technical Advisory Committee members who may be interested.**
We can accommodate up to 30 participants per workshop. Please register by emailing email@example.com.
